Açores rima com praia? Não, mas que encontrámos lá boas praias, encontrámos.
Praia de Stª. Bárbara
Passámos uma tarde nesta praia enquanto o sol se punha, enquanto esperávamos pela hora de jantar, pois iríamos jantar por ali perto. Então nada melhor que pôr os pezinhos na areia negra enquanto bronzeamos um bocadinho. Tivemos imensa sorte com o tempo que apanhámos durante a nossa estadia em S. Miguel, mas também planeámos o dia sempre conforme as condições apresentadas na hora e conseguimos adaptar cada actividade com o clima mais oportuno.
Esta praia é uma das mais extensas da ilha de S. Miguel com quase 1km de areal e vários acessos. Nós entrámos pelo acesso de um resort que lá se encontra em frente à praia e onde há um grande estacionamento de terra batida. Tem também um barzinho de praia e ainda acesso a sanitários e duches e torneiras para lavar os pés à hora de saída da praia.
Aqui pratica-se por excelência desportos aquáticos, como surf e bodyboard, sendo que a praia também acolhe provas internacionais destas modalidades.
Pelas excelentes condições de infra-estruturas, acessos (incluindo mobilidade reduzida), qualidade da água e o facto de ser vigiada, esta praia tornou-se um destino popular para locais e turistas.
Praia de Água d'Alto
Gostámos tanto desta praia que viemos duas vezes numa semana. Primeiro pela linda baía onde está inserida, a serra acaba e começa a praia, o que faz com que atrás de nós haja imensa vegetação tornando logo o local mais aconchegado, protegido e até confortável.
Depois pela qualidade da praia em si, a água límpida e quente, os acessos fáceis à praia, o estacionamento perto (em dias de maior procura pode ter de se andar um bocadinho mais à procura, as infra-estruturas de apoio e o bar com óptima oferta. Nota-se que gostámos mesmo desta praia?
Dei uns bons mergulhos nesta praia depois do trilho das 4 fábricas, e num dos últimos dias nesta ilha, viemos passar a manhã apenas para relaxar um pouco, também faz falta em viagens de maior duração.
Esta praia tem cerca de 500 metros de comprimento e o mar é pouco agitado, fazendo dela um destino de lazer muito procurado em Vila Franca. Existe também um hotel bem pertinho e não me negaria a ficar lá uns dias para descansar nesta praia. :)
Nota: Fotos não há, ainda. O meu enviado especial está a tratar disso, espreitem no google até lá. Estou a notar uma tendência, quando vou aos banhos e relaxar, as fotos ficam esquecidas.

Azores rhymes with beach? No, but we found great beaches there, oh yes we did!
Stª Bárbara Beach
We spent an afternoon on this beach as the sun went down, while we waited for dinner time, because we were going to have dinner nearby. There is nothing better than putting your feet in the black sand while tanning a little bit. We were extremely lucky with the weather during our stay in S. Miguel, but we also planned the day accordingly to the conditions presented at the time and managed to adapt each activity to the most appropriate climate.
This beach is one of the most extensive on the island of S. Miguel with almost 1km of sand and several accesses. We entered through the access of a resort that is there in front of the beach and where there is a large dirt parking lot. It also has a beach bar and access to toilets and showers and taps to wash your feet when you leave the beach.
Here, water sports such as surfing and bodyboarding are practiced a lot, and the beach also hosts international competitions of these modalities.
Due to the excellent infrastructure conditions, access (including reduced mobility), water quality and the fact that it has lifeguards, this beach has become a popular destination for locals and tourists.
Água d'Alto Beach
We liked this beach so much that we came twice in a week. First, because of the beautiful bay where it is inserted, the mountain ends and the beach begins, which means that there is this immense vegetation behind us, making the place cozier, protected and even comfortable.
Then because of the quality of the beach itself, the clear and warm water, the easy access to the beach, the parking nearby (on days of greater demand you may have to walk a little more in search of a spot), the support infrastructures and the bar with great offer. Did you notice that we really liked this beach?
I spent some time in the water on this beach, after the trail of the 4 factories, and on one of the last days on this island, we came to spend the morning just to relax a little, it is also necessary for trips of longer duration.
This beach is about 500 meters long and the sea is calm, making it a popular leisure destination in Vila Franca. There is also a hotel very close and I would not refuse to stay there for a few days to rest on this beach. :)
